AFRICA : Child Headed Households
IFCO has developed a project plan to provide an answer to the need of the many households headed by children orphaned because of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the region. Also the other forms of informal and kinship cares in the continent need support.

 
IFCO PROPOSAL for the Improvement of the care of Children Orphaned or made Vulnerable by the Pandemic of HIV AIDS
IFCO has stepped into the global effort to tackle the devastating impact of the HIV AIDS pandemic, particularly on children. We are currently developing projects to start and improve foster and kinship care, formal or informal. We will work to gather expertises and experiences able to invent support and monitoring systems for Child-headed Households.

 
Mobilising Communities to accept Foster Care as a response to the HIV/AIDS orphans in Kenya (2004-2010)
IFCO, in partnership with ANPPCAN (The African Network for the Prevention and the Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect), is committed to develop foster care solutions for children made vulnerable by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The project developed in the Embakasi Division of Kenya consists of a local campaign to raise awareness, the establishment of a local network and the organisation of a Conference in Nairobi in 2007.

The Indian Project on Best Practices in Foster Care (2006)

IFCO is helping in the preparation of a handbook of good practices in India in relation to family-based alternatives to institutional care.

 

 
Europe
EUROPE : Quality Standards Project (2004-2007)
IFCO is partner in a new project involving 31 European countries entitled “Quality Standards in out-of-home care for children in Europe”.

 
Romania Maternal Assistant Network
Training, networking and consultation work in Romania, helping set up the network for Maternal Assistant and developing Foster Care in the country.

 
DEFT Project : Development of European Fostering Trainings (2005-2007)
IFCO is cooperating with fostering agencies in Austria, Sweden, Poland, Italy and the United Kingdom in developing a vocational training package to train the trainers of foster carers. The project started in November 2005 and the project will be launched at a conference in Poland in September 2007.

 
Romania Adoption Project

IFCO leads a team of experts in supporting the Romanian Office for Adoption in the promotion and facilitation of best practises in domestic adoption.
