2017 Board of Directors Election: Call for Nominations

Nominations to stand for election to the IFCO Board of Directors are now open

International Foster Care Organisation (IFCO) is seeking new members to sit on the Board of Directors. Nominations to stand for 2017 election to the Board of Directors are now open. You can help IFCO continue to advance its mission of sharing global experience to achieve excellence in alternative care. With new strategic goals and many upcoming initiatives on the horison, IFCO needs and welcomes the enthusiastic participation of its members on the Board of Directors.

The member-elected volunteer Board of Directors is comprised of five to eleven members and provides overall governance, strategic and policy direction of the organisation. The role will offer you an exciting opportunity to use your skills and experience in strategic leadership, public representation and good governance towards a common good. We are looking for individuals with commitment to our values who would devote the necessary time to help us deliver on our mission. We are particularly looking for people with expertise in finance, corporate partnerships, resource development and fundraising. Specific requirements towards the nominees

All paid-up IFCO members may nominate themselves individually or be nominated as an employee/ a member of the governing body of an organisational member of IFCO. Specific requirements towards the nominees include:

  • A nominee must be 18 years old or over.
  • A nominee must be an individual member, a life member, a youth member or an employee/ a member of the governing body of an organisational member of IFCO. Please note that organisational members can only nominate a named representative who, if elected, will become an individual Director on the IFCO Board.
  • An individual who is resident in a particular country will not be valid if there are two Directors resident in that particular country who will not retire but will continue to serve on the Board. For further details please check the current list of IFCO Board members. 

Nomination procedures

Each candidate can be nominated by filling out and signing a nomination form which will create a ballot for the elections. The form can be downloaded by following this link. Please ensure that the following information is submitted with your nomination to the IFCO Board of Directors:

  • Nomination form, including your profile, supporting statement and signature
  • Resume outlining professional and leadership experiences
  • Photo: colour .jpg file, 6”x4” or larger and 300 dpi

The nomination should be returned to IFCO Office via with “Nomination for 2017 Election” in the subject line by 23:59 UTC/GMT on 6 October 2017. Late, incomplete or not signed nomination forms will not be accepted.

Election procedures

An election of IFCO Directors takes place every two years at our Annual General Meetings (AGMs). The two years are not necessarily calendar years but represent the period between every second AGM which can vary within the terms of the Articles of Association. After those two years new elections are held and certain actions take place. The Board of Directors is elected for a minimum term of two years. A Director can serve no more than 8 consecutive years. If the number of nominees does not exceed the number of vacancies to be filled then the nominees will be declared duly elected at the AGM. If the number of nominees does exceed the number of vacancies to be filled then an election will be conducted at the AGM in accordance with the determined procedures. The appointment of a director is not to take effect until he/she has signed the prescribed Companies House form. Later on, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer will be elected by the Board from among their number at its first meeting following the elections.
