IFCO President Stela Grigoraş becomes the new Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family in Moldova
IFCO President Stela Grigoraş becomes the Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family of the Republic of Moldova in the new government led by the pro-European Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
In her acceptance speech at the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family on the 21 January 2016, Stela said: "What I bring to the role is another alternative vision that is coming from the NGO sector's perspective. I propose to share the expertise of civil society. I hope that we can facilitate better coordination between the Ministry and the territorial structures as the policy makers at the national and local levels". "This will be achieved through the efficient and open communication," reiterated Minister Grigoraş.
For many of us at IFCO Stela is known for her pioneering work on deinstitutionalisation, transformation and closure of the residential institutions, as well as developing and managing community-based social services for families and children in alternative care in Moldova. Stela has a wealth of experience in child and family welfare having managed a number of large international and national childcare reform programmes and projects for almost twenty years. She and her team at Partnership For Every Child Moldova, IFCO long-standing organisational member have been instrumental in supporting the national government in developing and revising primary and secondary legislation in child care and child protection.
Our sincere congratulations go to IFCO President Stela Grigoraş. We are wishing Stela every success in her new role as the Minister, with undoubted belief that Stela's new position will be a huge gain for her native Moldova.
